One Wrong Turn and a Frozen Dead Guy

So up in the mountains, in a wild west town called Nederland, they annually celebrate the fact that they keep a dead guy on dry ice. Only in America. This dead guy is cryogenically preserved and if they ever find the science to bring him back to life he will be very surprised to see that Nederland swells in size with the drawcard being hearse parades and coffin races. It really was hilarious. And ridiculous. The locals took great pride in dressing as zombies and decorating their 'hearses'. We also witnessed some frozen turkey bowling, and just missed the 'polar plunge' where they cut a hole in the ice and some brave idiots jump in.
We started our day with snowshoeing in the national park nearby. It was truly gorgeous with the snow sparkling on the pine trees. We thought that maybe Tess had had enough and turned around but ended up taking a wrong turn and seeing some more of the countryside than we had planned to. We think Tess actually likes the cold. She never complains and looks so cute in the bear suit. She smiles and talks to the little bears on her feet.
Last weekend we finally skiied up at Winter Park. We were lucky enough to have Sharon and her 2 lovely boys showing us the ropes. Jason and I took it in turns to have lessons and we both feel confident enough now to ski again this year.
The snow is melting here and Spring is definitely in the air. Tess and I hear birds now on our walks but we haven't heard a woodpecker yet.

Love to you all, x
